What to look out for when choosing car rims?

When finding the perfect car wheels for your car, there are several factors to consider. Knowing what these factors are and how they affect your choice will help you make a decision that meets all your needs.

Vehicle type

The type of vehicle you have will determine what types of car rims are available for purchase. Different vehicles require different sizes and shapes to fit properly. Make sure the car rims you choose not only look good, but also fit correctly on your specific vehicle type.

Price

Car rims come in a variety of models and brands. It's important to keep your budget in mind when shopping, so you don't overspend or get stuck with something that doesn't meet all your needs or expectations. Consider the quality-to-price ratio when making a decision on which car rim is suitable! At Hoogendoorvelgen, we can always advise you on which brand and size best suits your car type and tyre size.

Quality

You want to make sure the rim you buy is made of high-quality materials and built with precision engineering so that its performance or safety features are not compromised when you are driving at high speeds on the highway. Look at reviews from other customers who have bought similar products before deciding which product is best for you and make sure it meets all the safety requirements of local laws.

Size

Car wheels come in many different sizes, ranging from small 13-inch wheels to larger 24-inch models, depending on the size required for each individual car model and year combination (for example, certain cars need 17-inch wheels, while others need 20-inch). Make sure you choose the wheel size that best suits your car, as this can affect overall handling due to weight distribution across the axles, etc.

Style

Style preference plays an important role when choosing niejouwe car wheels, do some research online beforehand or take a look at other vehicles of similar makes/models in the area where you live; this will give a good insight into current trends and popular designs within communities across the country. If you are not sure after looking around, opt for classic timeless styles as these never go out of style, regardless of the season/year.

Weight

Weight is also important, heavier wheels can cause drag during acceleration, leading to a slower time between 0 and 60 km/h, while lighter wheels can slightly improve reaction time, but may not always offer the same level of comfort and smoothness as heavier counterparts (especially when off-road). Be careful here and try to weigh up the pros and cons before buying something overpriced just because it looks nice at first without considering its long-term practical use.

Summer tyres

The unique rubber compound gives summer tyres a better grip on the road during warmer periods. Moreover, summer tyres wear less quickly than winter or all-season tyres during these periods. A summer tyre's coarser tread also increases grip at higher temperatures.

Winter tyres are not adapted to summer conditions. Continuing to drive on winter tyres in summer is less safe and more expensive. At higher temperatures, the rubber of winter tyres becomes too soft. This affects grip and increases wear. We therefore recommend fitting summer tyres from 15 March onwards.

All-season tyres

The biggest advantage of the all-season or four-season tyre is its hassle-free nature. You do not need to have your car tyres replaced twice a year at our tyre centre. The rubber and tread offer sufficient grip in almost all not too extreme weather conditions. But in extreme weather conditions, a good winter tyre is still preferred.

A four-season tyre does wear faster than a summer tyre in higher temperatures because the compound of an all-season is softer.

Winter tyres

Winter tyres have remarkably better grip in winter conditions. This is due to a modified rubber compound and finer grooves in the tread. In Belgium, it is recommended to fit winter tyres under the car from 1 October. Then you can enjoy winter tyres to the full.
